TeslaVision Contest #SelfieWithTesla

A few weeks ago, I was browsing the internet when I came across the TeslaVision contest - it's a contest for fans to create a Tesla commercial for a chance to win a Model Y. Over the past year, I've put together five Tesla advertisements using video footage released by Tesla. For this contest, the entry required the individual to own all the content in the video, so I had to come up with a new game plan for my entry. I don't currently own a Tesla, so after reading the rules, I was a little stumped. It definitely seemed geared towards current Tesla owners, but I wasn't going to let that stop me!

Living in Southern California, I see a Tesla every five seconds. Literally, they are everywhere. After thinking about it for a couple days, I thought wow - that'd be a great way to advertise the brand. I can't be the only one seeing Tesla everywhere!

That's when I brainstormed the hashtag #SelfieWithTesla. I wanted to create something that not only showed off the brand's market dominance, but also inspired Tesla owners to snap a picture with their Tesla.

For a week straight, I adventured through town taking selfies with every Tesla parked in public.

Here's the result :-)

In total, there are 420 selfies, and the video is 69 seconds long hahaha. I had a lot of fun putting it all together.

I produced the song (Lucid Dream by DeltaX) and designed the hyper-speed tunnel animation.

When I finished, I wanted to showcase the selfies in a Google Drive folder, but I ran into a slight problem - I needed to protect the privacy of Tesla owners. Photography data, called EXIF, is attached to every photo you take on your iPhone. It includes all kinds of fun information about your device, and coordinates for the photo's location (longitude/latitude). I browsed the Mac App Store for a quick solution, found an app, downloaded it, and what do you know! It doesn't work lol. So I said screw it, and popped into Grok. Using my AI sidekick, I coded up EXIF Hunter - a macOS app designed to remove EXIF data from JPG images.

EXIF Hunter is available for free on the Mac App Store.

That's all for now - excited to see what comes next! :D
